Dr. Liz Walenz

Hi! I’m Liz Walenz, a pediatrician with Methodist Physicians Clinic. I grew up in Omaha, in the heart of Dundee. I attended college at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and received my bachelor of science degree in zoology with a minor in American literature. I returned to Omaha after college and attended UNMC to complete both my master’s degree in pathology and my medical degree. I then traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to complete my pediatrics residency and chief residency.  However, I was never a Packers fan and have always been a Husker at heart. We returned to Omaha almost four years ago, and I joined the Children’s Physicians practice before moving to Methodist Physicians Clinic.

I have a great husband, Steve, who works in the asphalt business, and two children.  Jack is 5 and Julia is 22 months old. When I am not in the office, I enjoy reading books with my book club, riding bikes, walking our dog and enjoying time with my family.

Two of my major focuses in my office are on nutrition and exercise for my patients.  With the national epidemic of obesity, I feel that it is one of my jobs to try to tackle this problem early on.  I also focus quite a bit on early childhood development.  I thoroughly enjoy pediatrics and watching my patients grow.

I am a fellow member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. I also am a member of the Young Pediatricians network of the AAP.  I am involved with my church, teaching Sunday School and working with the Omaha Children’s Museum Guild. I look forward to my first experience with blogging.
